In 2018, Town Farm Co-op was formed as an urban farm and garden school to teach natural farming techniques to youth and adults in order to regenerate communities, build local food security, and foster a new generation of food producers. For two years, Town Farm, a co-operative social enterprise, received funding from various sources to run learn-to-garden programs in New Waterford.
In 2020, Town Farm was restructured and became Wild Town. Though our focus on food education and youth engagement has not changed, we realized smaller is better and healing comes before growing. We now operate as a non-profit. While in-person group programming and workshops are on hold during the COVID-19 pandemic, we continue to work with youth interns on an individual basis. In the future, we plan to create online versions of our lessons and workshops.
